I really can't recommend AAA enough. If you're going to Alaska to REALLY SEE Alaska, you owe it to yourself to think about booking a trip with AAA. Sure there are hikes, even multi-day hikes, you could do on your own with just your lower-48 state experience, but this is Alaska people. Why go all that way to do something tame like that? Are you really going to get to ANWR on your own? Think about it.
