Buyers Beware: I purchased a Suzuki SX4 AWD, 52 thousand miles, for nine thousand dollars from Tonys Auto (36th and Spenard) in July of 2017 and now in November of 2017 the transmission completely failed. Quoted 8K (or a little less for used or rebuilt transmission) from a reputable auto repair shop. Refused to put more money into this vehicle. Vehicle purchased by Tonys from an auction. Found out vehicle was a trade in and sent to auction due to transmission problems (from dealer who owned vehicle prior to sending it off to salvage/auction). My vehicle will be residing in a salvage yard soon and I will cut my losses. I still owe approximately 5K on loan. Called Tony's to see if they would help but was told it was sold used and as-is. Longer version in reddit for the curious, and hopefully prudent, researcher of used cars. Last, suggest speaking to local businesses and auto loan banks for a dealer's reputation prior to purchasing at any dealer. Selling a car that they know has major issues. They patch cars together and try to sell them. Please do a pre inspection. I just bought a Tacoma from Tony's Auto recently. Very nice guys and very professional salesmans. Happy with the buy. My car buying experience with Tony's Auto Sales started out awesome, then quickly turned into a used car buyer's nightmare. My high-mile 2011 $15,000 Acadia had engine problems that were not resolved after a $1000 bill from my mechanic. Tony then sent the car to his shop for another repair that he paid for. It was running great, but within two weeks the engine was completely dead. Tony could have legally left me high and dry, but he offered to pay for half of the engine rebuild or let me trade in the dead Acadia for $12000. The rebuild was taking too long, so I chose a 5 speed 2011 Subaru Forester. He had me drive it a few days to make sure it would work for me. It turned out to be too small. Next I took home a 2014 Kia Sorento. I had to pay an extra $3600 for the newer, lower mile upgrade, but I finally found the right SUV. I could only imagine these guys were getting sick and tired of seeing me show up! It was an unfortunate and costly venture for me. But in the end, Tony and Visar made sure I drove off their lot in a dependable car that would fit my needs. These are stand up, family men who aim to please the customers! I would recommended a pre-purchase mechanical inspection for higher mile vehicles, but both mechanics said the Acadia engine seize up could not have been predicted. It was just bad luck for all of us.....
