  We loved our time in Alaska and the RV was clean and we'll be coming back to Alaska but we will not be renting from Great Alaskan Holidays in the future. 1. The orientation was nothing but a sales pitch to add on insurance and extras, we arrived 20 minutes prior to the time we were told to arrive and we did not get to leave until until 1.5 hours after arriving. This was all video and sales pitch time - our guy literally threw us the keys and told us to have fun. Didn't show us one thing about the RV - I had to track him down to ask him a question which he didn't know the answer to. During that time - he said, "Don't bring it back at your check in time and expect to unload your gear". But what about all this time I'm spending with you trying to sell me something and I was supposed to be out of here 30 minutes ago? The worst part was the drop off - I called the day before to ask if we could store bags their prior to our flight which was leaving later that night. They said yes and there was no charge for bag storage. When we showed up, they said there was a $3 per bag fee to store. I told them I called the day before and they said there was no charge and the managers response was, "yeah, we just started doing that". I couldn't care less about the money, it was just the principal that I was told there was no charge and the managers smart ass attitude. What else would they tell me that they would come back and charge me for? I just spent $1,500+ with you and you're going to lose a customer over $15? Edit from owner response: Thanks for your response Corbin - the manager did not offer to extend or rental time which is what I requested after finding out about the fee. She said I could take the shuttle to the airport to drop off my luggage, then take the shuttle back. I didn't have that kind of time... We spent 3 weeks in a 28ft, sharing with another couple, which meant that it was a bit crowded and lacking in privacy, but we had a great time and the RV proved to be a good way to travel around Alaska and in to Canada. Driving was easier and more comfortable than I expected but you do have to be careful when turning - the turning circle is very poor. Petrol (gas) consumption is high. We filled the tank 4 times over 1600 miles. The staff at Great Alaskan were very helpful, both before and after the trip. We spent 18 fabulous days on the road in our 31' Winnebago. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in the Spring Adventure Package through Great Alaskan Holidays. This was the trip of a lifetime for my husband and I. At each turn, we would look at each other and ask ourselves if this was a dream! The coach was very roomy and had lots of storage. Each night we had a hot shower and a warm home. We enjoyed all of our meals cooking in our kitchen, surrounded by the beauty of Alaska. The experience of staying in the magnificent land of Canada and Alaska without ever having to move suitcases and gear from place to place was the best reason ever to travel in an RV. We saw so many gorgeous places that most people who take a tour bus never get to see. I cannot say enough about the fabulous staff at Great Alaskan Holidays. They answered any question we had and were always cheerful and helpful. We give Great Alaskan Holidays the highest rating. Wishing everyone could experience an unforgettable trip such as ours! Wonderful first time experience! Courteous staff and quick service. Would definitely go back. I advise making a reservation well in advance to get a perfect vehicle for your purpose-I was a little late and had to rent a much bigger motor home over what I needed. Great vacation but very disappointing service and quality from Great Alaskan Holidays. We rented two large Minnie Winnie's for two weeks and both were littered with issues. The air conditioning did not work in one and a pop out stopped functioning in another. From my perspective both were issues that could have been identified if the units were thoroughly checked between rentals. We also had problems with the doors and interior hardware on both units. Not sure what quality controls are done to maintain the units. In addition we found the units to be unclean. On the surface things were fine but underneath bunks and couches there were clothes, socks, sandals, toys and other trash from prior rentals. Not a major issue but certainly makes you think about what other corners are being cut to push out the units from one rental to another. Alaska is an amazing place and is best experienced by RVing. Next time we'll be using another service.
