My friend and I rented a camper van through Northwest van campers for a week in September. Right from the beginning communication with Gary was super easy and they made sure we don't have to worry about anything which was great considering my friend was coming from Germany and myself from Canada. We just wanted to hop into the van and drive away into out Alaskan adventure, which thankfully they made so easy to do. We were met by Ryan at the airport and he showed us everything about the van, signed the paperwork and we were ready to go. The van itself was great, I kind of got attached, and it was hard to say goodbye to it. I always wanted to try out that kind of travelling and this van made it very easy to do. Throughout our entire trip we had absolutely no trouble with it, it was super easy to drive and held good on the dirt muddy roads. Being able to go where we wanted when we wanted was very nice. The Mile Post book included with the van made finding sites easy. The bedding/blankets included were more than enough to keep us toasty in the autumn nights. The cooler and 2 burner stove made meals easy on the road. It also had a power converter to charge our cell phones. Gary really put a lot of thought in the design of these Vans and you can tell. From making a reservation to drop off, the guys at Northwest Van Campers were easy to work with. I had to make a reservation last minute and Gary had a van for me! Ryan drove down from Eagle River and met us at the airport. He went over everything and had us on our way. The van was excellent. We liked how it was plain white so we didn't stand out like tourists. It had everything we might would need. And the best part was we had a protected bed each night to sleep in. We loved the freedoms of a van. If we liked a place we could stay an extra day. If we wanted to see something else or try a different area, we went! We didn't have to worry about reservations to keep. I would highly recommend renting a van from Gary and his team. Great experience! Northwest van campers offered us an amazing and affordable way to see Alaska. The service was personal, friendly and honest, with none of the over the top paperwork and hidden charges we have seen elsewhere. We were encouraged to go where we please, advised on how to stay safe and our rental was as smooth as we could have hoped. The van was great to drive, comfortable to sleep in and didn't stand out at all so we didn't look like tourists (until we got out!). The van was surprisingly economical to drive (thanks to cheap fuel in the US). Northwest van campers seems to be genuinely concerned with showing you safely round Alaska rather than shaking pennies out of your pockets like some others. This is the best way to drive in Alaska and we'll be using them again if we ever get chance to go back. Excellent service and a solid sturdy van for two weeks trip. Gary and Ryan were very attentive. Email and phone correspondence was flawless. The van performed well. I found great wild campsites. Truly an epic journey. Thanks.
