Really old dated theatre with a grainy screen. Inside an old dying mall. Small seats. I watched the Aurora film. The video looks like it's 10 years old, it's cheasy, slow, and boring. 40 min wasted. 10$? Better clips on you tube Really nice with clean theater and were extremely family oriented. We watched Totoro here and would definitely do it regularly. The theatre is a great way to see Alaska if you're not going to spend a month there. They have Alaskan movies that provided an overall picture of Alaska, the Northern Lights and Wildlife. The best deal is the combo deal which includes the 1964 Earthquake and remembering what happened 50 years ago. The 4th Avenue Market Place is also a neat place for visitors to view the placards and pictures of artists and artisans in their Gallery walkways. I had an amazing time at the Alaska Experience Theatre! Watching movies that I have never had the chance to see on the big screen and seeing them as an adult was wonderful. They had an especially great selection of films for the month of October to celebrate Halloween. They have a nice selection of beer and hard cider for people of age to drink during the movies that makes it even more fun. I would definitely recommend the Alaska Experience Theatre! We watched the Alaska Earthquake video, which was a bit creative and informative, but not much better than a video you'd find on Youtube. And it was $10 per person for a less-than 15min video. The theater shakes to simulate the earthquake, which is a very creative idea in theory, but ends up being more annoying than enjoyable. Also, the earthquake simulation happens during the talking on the video, so you can't hear what they're saying while it's happening. I think if they'd had a "live earthquake" portion of the video (showing simulated falling buildings, etc) it would've made more sense. Outside the theater were more videos, which for some reason didn't make it into the earthquake movie. The guy working was over-dramatic and seemed less like a tour guide and more like an on-commision salesman. I will say that the huge pictures and maps outside the theater room were kind of cool, but ironically that was the free part, and it didn't really make up for the rest of my "experience." So while there were a couple things I enjoyed, there wasn't enough to make it worth the money, and I don't think I'll be going back.
