Excellent campground, wonderful hiking, we saw a bear in our campsite so be aware and prepare if you come here. The campsites are nice too. It has a beautiful lake. We highly recommend it ! Excellent hiking, camping, kayaking and bicycling spot in the winter and fall months. The campground is closed during winter months but you can still access areas not closed off. Make sure you get there early in the week as it's normally pretty full during the summer. Usually opens mid May and Closes Mid September each year. There are both easy and more difficult tracks here so it's a good place for all ages. The lake is beautiful even when frozen. Worth a walk about. No gas boats in the lake because it's a reservoir. Huge plus if you don't enjoy exhaust and obnoxious jet ski noise when you are hiking. Great launching point for walks along the lake or hikes up the surrounding mountains. The lake trails are accessible to ATV's during certain times. Please do your part to keep the lake water clean. Most of Anchorage drinks water from Eklutna Lake! Peaceful landscape. That goes on for miles and miles
