My folks and I have been patrons of this place for several years, and I have always marked it as one of my absolute favorite eating establishments... However... The last 3 times we've found it severely lacking. The quality of food has dropped, Yes; but far worse, the attitude with which my parents and I (and several acquaintances as well ) have been met with has been unbelievably rude. I was so shocked and offended by how I was spoken to over the phone when I was attempting to place a take out order, that I actually hung up on the lady I was talking to. It was so disappointing. I have always loved this restaurant and have always looked forward to the entire experience. I am completely mystified at the way my questions and comments were responded to. What has happened? Is there some sort of new management? In any event, I will no longer be spending any time or money at this restaurant. Nor will my parents (who literally live right around the corner). Nor will my friends. So much for valuing loyalty . Of note, had I simply related this story to my parents, they would have never believed it. Fortunately, the conversation occurred on speaker, as we were all planning to order. We are all thoroughly disgusted. Really enjoyed the schniztel. Also I had a decent IPA here which I can't say for many other places I visited in Anchorage. I had the schnitzel (chicken) with paprika mushroom sauce. It was quite good. The potato pancakes (kartoffelpuffer) were great too. I didn't like the sauerkraut, but the one who ordered it and eats it often gave it a thumbs up. Prices were reasonable too! Absolutely awesome food! It was so good I can't wait to go back. The service was also impeccable. I was unsure about a dish and one of the cooks brought it out for me to try during my meal. Hidden gem in anchorage! My husband and I both had a meal and an appetizer for $35. Amazing food good prices, a new favorite. I love this place. The food is great, i mean GREAT, with large portions. The beer comes by the liter if you want which really rocks and they have a great collection of the German brews on tap and bottled. The service is very pleasant. And holy only! The Apple strudel is amazeballz!
