The original Gallos still has the best bar, and probably the best food. Fairly local crowd with many regulars. Undoubtedly the best margaritas in Anchorage. House made chips and salsa just keep coming. Everything you'd expect in a Mexican restaurant. Gallo's is our family's goto for Mexican food. Not 100% authentic cuisine, but darn good food, great service and awesome drinks. I've been coming here since they opened and our daughter is a third generation customer. Are you kidding?! I love this place. Regulars at the bar always. Friendly service. Good food. Generous drinks. Loose women. Whatya want?! Sat the entire meal from appetizer to her dropping the bill off with an empty beer glass, not once was I asked for another. Ordered queso with the chips....it never made it. Luckily when my food did cone out it was darker than the nice stained wood table...yes burnt to hell. The dining room had 3 other tables so I can understand the preoccupied server being in the weeds. She was too busy hanging at the bar sweet talking her 3 early morning drinking regulars to give service anywhere else. I will go eat Chinese or dirt cookies before I go back here. Great food! Very busy and the service was slow on occasion.
