I have been searching for a good salon since I moved to AK last May 2012. The Beauty Room is not only a great salon but it is by far the best salon I have been to. I received a wonderful Hair cut by Master stylist Travis. Also, with the help of Alice, I got my hair permanently straightened. It has been two days now and I still LOVE my new hair. I can't say enough about Travis, Alice and The Beauty Room. From the moment I walked in I felt welcome. The lady at the front desk was friendly and after checking me in walked me to the waiting lounge. The atmosphere in the salon was upbeat and lively. Travis was extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure I was happy with my hair. He even juggled around his schedule to fit me in after we decided that straightening was the way to go. He explained everything he was doing and I felt very confident about the process. A little about me the reviewer: I am in my Mid-Twenties. I have lived many big cities (New York being one of them) and have been to many salons. Basically I am not saying this lightly when I tell you this was the best salon experience I have had. Thank you Beauty Room. Thought I would try someplace new for highlights. Went in for red highlights just like I already had. My stylist didn't listen to anything I asked for. She told me she'd make my hair beautiful and I should trust her. She ended up dying it a solid brown color- no red or highlights. Overall terrible experience. Never going back. Now I have to spend a significant amount of money elsewhere to get my hair light enough to dye it red again. Absolutely wonderful! I was so nervous going in, because my hair is so touchy and I hate finding new hair dressers. But she knew exactly what she was doing, walked me through every step as she did it so that I could feel more comfortable, and spent more than an hour with me making sure it looked the way I wanted it to. Wonderful, and I hope to go back again! Travis is the absolute BEST! Ways love getting my hair done here, would recommend them to anyone!
