I would highly recommend the Horn Doctor/Alaska Music and Sound for both new and experienced musicians! They are very supportive of our local music community, and are eager to help you with music related issues and questions. They will also tell you honestly if something cannot be fixed or is not worth fixing - and not all stores would do that. They also carry Suzuki materials, which is so convenient for parents and teachers. Thank you!! Over priced! To bring an alto sax to playing condition that was recently overhauled was going to cost me between $250 and $500. Could not lock in a price. What kind of greedy window is that? Absolutely ridiculous. If I go to a mechanic to replace my brakes or tune up my car, I will get a set price, not a dang $250 window of an estimate of it could be this or it could be that. Especially after they look over the car prior to the estimate. I understand it is an estimate but a $250 window in the estimate to bring up to playing condition with brand new pads and corks etc? Absolutely greedy and arrogant. I guess there isn't much of a choice or competition up here which is why they can screw you on their prices. Even the prices for their used instruments are ridiculous by $100s of dollars. Better off buying from a reputable place online and having it shipped. This place is a rip off. I bought my son his for saxophone here it is a little pricey but you get quality instruments... I'm always happy with how knowledgeable they are with every instrument such a friendly atmosphere Went in for help with my Ukulele, I have a baritone that I tune GCEA, staff there was able to help me figure out which strings would work for that setup, had a couple of options in stock. Great selection, great staff, super helpful, highly recommend. I agree with the previous review, went to horn doctor, they quoted me $250-500 for my sax to be repaired. Took it to Music Man, $50 and a week later, the sax sings. How does this shop justify $250-$500 when another can do fix it for $50 blows my mind.
