I can not tell you how amazing this train ride was! It was relaxing, exciting, educational, fun, and just freaking amazing!!! I can't stress enough how much you need to ride it! Would recommend to anyone with a soul! We made the trip from Anchorage to Seward and back in the summer of 2015. We combined it with a boat trip trough Kenai Fjords NP. It was a very long but beautiful day. On the way from Anchorage to Seward we rode the Gold Star coach, where you sit up high under the glass dome. It really lets you see the countryside and you're able to look over the shrubs and the trees. It's worth the money to at least make part of the trip in Gold Star. There is not much time to spend in Seward when you combine the train with the boat. But the good thing is that you'll be on the water longer to watch the whales and other sea life. Don't forget to take pills against motion sickness! Awesome train with beautiful domed rail cars. No bad seats. Service was excellent. We've done this ride 4 times over the years and it's always consistent;y good. Can't wait to go back!! The best ever Rode the train in 2011. It was a great experience! Friendly staff, accessible and nice train, beautiful views. I would totally love to come back to Alaska!
