Good parking for the trail. Also a good spot to stop at night to see the stars, northern lights, or just the lights of the valley Just park where everyone else is on the side of the road. The trail on the left with the gate is a road to some old buildings. There is a trail from there that goes to black tail amd the back side of Mt. Baldy. From the parking, the trail on the right is the Mt. Baldy summit trail. It's short but steep. Fun hike for a couple of hours. If you have more time, keep going and follow the Black Tail Ridge trail. Nice view from the top but the trail has been over used. Don't go on a rainy day or after it has recently rained - the inclines are steep with nothing to slow a fall, and slick mud makes it treacherous in several places. Beautiful place hard drive but worth it One of my best places to go when I lived there. Don't forget to bring a walking stick if you plan to hike to the top of mountain. Watch for dog poo poo at the parking lot. If you are interested in herbs, you can also look for yarrow and chamomile, and fireweed, etc.
