Fantastic human beings. Great service. They have delivered 3 of our kids. While I do feel this is a generally caring group of women, my experience leads me to believe they are not adequately equipped to recognize medical emergency. I was taken on as a low risk patient and trusted the midwives to discern the development of complication. Signs and symptoms of infection, including complaints of unusual uterine pain, chills, fever, tachycardia, premature rupture of membrane, and failure to progress in labor were overlooked and mismanaged. I suffered a severe hemorrhage six hours post birth and later broke out in full body hives. My newborn was diagnosed with meningitis. Postpartum, the staff became guarded in their interaction with us and the midwives provided no real medical explanation for what had happened. I feel the concern of liability was put before the responsibility to help our family heal. It was found I had presented with every marker of viral chorioamnionitis. I spent days fevering, experiencing start and stop labor as my unborn baby and I became sicker and sicker. I was repetitively reassured and sent home. My complaints and concerns were treated like an emotional problem instead of the medical problem that they were. I should have been induced sooner and received stricter monitoring. Additionally, my placenta should have been sent for testing in order to aid in appropriate diagnosis and treatment. What happened to our family cannot happen again. Oversight at a younger gestational age could have been even more detrimental. This group needs stricter protocols in place for the recognition of and response to infection. *Midwifery- as addressed in my reviews, one or more of your midwives missed opportunities for appropriate care and review before, during, and after the birth of our baby. In sharing our experience, our hope is that the same trauma not come to someone else. It has taken our family a long time to try and heal from our experience with your practice. I loved the care I received with each of my 8 births. Each birth was different and special. I was so thankful for the personal touch that we received each time before durning and after. These midwives have the perfect balance between professional and intimate care. We give them a 5+ Amazing, personable midwives. It was a surreal experience going through the whole pregnancy and delivery with people I felt I knew so well. Travelled a long way to have a successful v-back with Karin in 2006. Wonderfully supportive and excellent care.
