The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport offers plenty of restaurants, gift shops, and restrooms. There are numerous areas to walk around and look at Alaskan art and exhibits. If you arrive early to this airport then have a look around. Not all the exhibits are within the secured area. The Alaska Sports Hall of Fame is in the basement next to the parking. It took 45 min to get through the security 10:50-11:35 pm on 8/7/2017. First of all, the line for the security check in was already way long down to the stores and never moved. Looks like they didn't open up all the security lines. Finally they seemed to open up more lines so the lines before us moved really fast until they filled up the new lines then we were able to get through the check in. In the security area, the far left line which a blond ponytail lady was in charge wasn't moving at all because she was rechecking every 3-4 belongs again as well as she checked really slowly. I was traveling with my parents, 79 and 81 years. They got really tired waiting and started worrying to miss the plane. And voila!!! We missed 11:40 plane. We worked really hard to get seats together and to get exit seats for that flight. Luckily, we got on the next flight but we were all separated in the middle seats. We are very unhappy with this!!!! You definitely improve the system and need to hire or train the inspector more intensely. Wonderful Airport... great design, clean location, lots of food options. Make sure to check out the Polar Bears in the main lobby entrance! It could do with more fast eats, but I love this airport. its so comfortable and beautiful. Check out the Susitna Lounge if you have extra time before your flight The airport staff is nice. Security is pretty quick if you have everything ready.
